Ways The Steelers Can Create Cap Space: The Pittsburgh Steelers can make various moves to create more than $20 million in cap space before free agency. Even after releasing cornerback William Jackson III, they still have around $11 million in available cap space. To create more, they can restructure T.J. Watt's contract, which will give him his money upfront and clear up $12.6 million in cap space. They can also adjust Mitch Trubisky's contract by adding void years to lower his $10 million cap hit. The team can release Gunner Olszewski and Ahkello Witherspoon to add more funds, saving $2 million and $4 million, respectively. Additionally, releasing Myles Jack would clear up $8 million in cap space, although it would leave them without a starting inside linebacker. The Steelers can use the available funds to re-sign players or target new signings in free agency.
